Fiona’s Blog

Text Box: Hello and welcome!

What a year: as well as writing my weekly column for The Land, I’ve taken garden tours to Scotland, New Zealand China and travelled round New South Wales giving garden lectures. At West Wyalong I took part in ‘Sweden in the West’, in Mudgee I talked to Australia Decorative & Fine Arts Society about differences between Chinese and Western garden design, and I’ve shared pictures and stories about my garden with local garden clubs.

I have been writing on gardening for thirty years. My first article was about grey foliage plants and I was ecstatic when it was accepted by a major gardening magazine, Your Garden, then a Melbourne monthly.

In 1995 I became The Land’s first full-time gardening writer. I have now written nearly a thousand columns for The Land and submitted as many photographs. You can read some of my past columns under Gardening Tips, above, and click on Blog to read about my gardening life.

A few copies of my book, A Country Garden are still available under Books, above.
My gardening and writing are interdependent, each inspires the other and I love them both.
